Woltemade would like to "make a hat trick when it comes to titles"

Nick Woltemade opened Stuttgart's cup victory with his goal. Although he already described his season as "phenomenal," he still had two more titles in his sights.

Since joining VfB Stuttgart , Nick Woltemade has evolved from a player Sebastian Hoeneß didn't call up for the Champions League to a difference-maker. The most recent example: the cup final. With his back to goal, he repeatedly secured possession and initiated VfB's first cup victory since 1997 with his 1-0 goal. "When I scored the goal, I was very happy because everything fell away," the striker said in a ZDF interview.

The fact that he beat Jonas Kersken in a one-on-one was also due to his preparation. Woltemade knew that the goalkeeper "always has his left leg open." Accordingly, he aimed for the right corner. But instead of scoring the goal that made him the top scorer of the cup season (5 goals), the 23-year-old wanted to relive his celebration in the interview.

I did a knee slide for the first time in my life and my knees immediately turned blue.

"I'd love to see my knee slide. I did a knee slide for the first time in my life and my knees immediately got bruised," he explained to Sky . Looking back at the celebrations, he drew a positive conclusion: "For two meters, that's not bad."

He subsequently rated his performance in the past season – at least at club level – even more highly. He described it as "already phenomenal." However, the season still holds two highlights for him. Woltemade will be participating with the senior national team in the Nations League Final Four (June 4-8) and, just a few days later, in the U21 European Championship (June 11-28). "I'd like to score a hat trick when it comes to titles. I've got the number one spot now. I hope this relaxed attitude lasts," explained the striker. If his wish comes true, his season summary should be even better than it already is.
